Description

A comforting Southern side dish featuring crispy bacon and tender green beans, creating a joyous culinary experience.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound of green beans, trimmed
  • 4 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add the chopped bacon to a large pot over medium heat and sauté until crispy and golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. Remove the crispy bacon using a slotted spoon, leaving the drippings behind in the pot.
  3. Toss in the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 3 to 4 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  4. Add the trimmed green beans, chicken broth, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes to the pot, stirring to combine.
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 45 minutes.
  6. Stir in the reserved crispy bacon just before serving.
  7. Serve warm as a delightful side dish.
