Description

A simple and delicious homemade white bread recipe that elevates every meal with its soft, pillowy texture and crispy crust.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup of warm water into a large bowl. Sprinkle the yeast over it, allowing it to sit for about 5 minutes until it froths.
  2. Stir in the sugar, salt, and vegetable oil until well-combined.
  3. Gradually add the flour to the mixture while stirring with a spatula until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Dust a clean surface lightly with flour, and then knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
  6. After an hour, gently punch down the dough to release the air and shape it into a loaf.
  7. Place the loaf into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan, cover it again, and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  10. Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
