Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly combined.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the sugar and softened butter together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the applesauce and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  9. Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
