Description

A delicious and creamy green bean casserole topped with crispy breadcrumbs and melty cheddar cheese, perfect for family gatherings and holidays.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring salted water to a boil in a large pot; blanch the green beans for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; sauté the chopped onions and sliced mushrooms for 5 to 7 minutes until softened.
  4. Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and soy sauce in a mixing bowl. Stir in the sautéed vegetables and blanched green beans until coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, topping with cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Make ahead by assembling the casserole a day before and refrigerating before baking. Feel free to customize by adding roasted garlic or crispy bacon.
