Description

A heartwarming dish that combines tender meatballs and perfectly cooked spaghetti in a rich tomato sauce, evoking nostalgia and comfort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 28 ounces canned tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil. Add the spaghetti and stir, cooking until al dente.
  2. Prepare the meatballs: In a large mixing bowl, mix ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, parsley, garlic, onion, salt, and pepper gently.
  3. Brown the meatballs: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the meatballs until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  4. Prepare the sauce: In the same skillet, add canned tomatoes and tomato paste, seasoning with Italian seasoning. Let simmer.
  5. Simmer the meatballs: Return the meatballs to the sauce and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring gently.
  6. Serve: Drain the spaghetti, coat lightly with olive oil, plate it, and top with sauce and meatballs. Garnish with parsley or Parmesan if desired.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the sauce and meatballs in advance, storing in the fridge for up to three days. Alternatives: Try baking meatballs for a healthier version or using a slow cooker.
