Description

Savory Breakfast Pop-Tarts are a delightful twist on the classic pastry, filled with a variety of savory ingredients to create a unique breakfast experience.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon or sausage
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt, then cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add cold water gradually until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
  5. On half of the rectangles, place a spoonful of cheese and bacon or sausage, then season with salt and pepper.
  6. Top with the remaining rectangles and seal the edges with a fork.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
