Description

Delicious and festive red velvet cinnamon rolls perfect for Valentine’s Day.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  6. Spread the melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Drizzle with cream cheese frosting before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • Make sure to let the rolls rise for the best texture.
  • These rolls can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
