- 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup patriotic sprinkles
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 3 tbsp cream cheese, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 2 tbsp milk
- Extra red, white, and blue sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together 1 stick of softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until the mixture is light and creamy.
- Beat in 1 large egg and 1 tsp of vanilla extract, blending well until incorporated.
- In another bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 tsp of baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
- Gently fold in 1/4 cup of patriotic sprinkles.
- Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20–22 minutes, until lightly golden at the edges.
- Once baked, cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat together 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1 stick of softened butter, 3 tbsp of softened cream cheese, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 2 tbsp of milk until smooth.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled bars and top with more sprinkles.
- Slice into squares and serve.
Notes
Allow the bars to cool completely before frosting for the best texture.
