Description

Delightful cookie bars radiant with red, white, and blue sprinkles, perfect for festive celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup patriotic sprinkles
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 3 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • Extra red, white, and blue sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together 1 stick of softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until the mixture is light and creamy.
  3. Beat in 1 large egg and 1 tsp of vanilla extract, blending well until incorporated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 tsp of baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  6. Gently fold in 1/4 cup of patriotic sprinkles.
  7. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 20–22 minutes, until lightly golden at the edges.
  9. Once baked, cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  10. For the frosting, beat together 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1 stick of softened butter, 3 tbsp of softened cream cheese, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 2 tbsp of milk until smooth.
  11. Spread the frosting over the cooled bars and top with more sprinkles.
  12. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

Allow the bars to cool completely before frosting for the best texture.
