- 8 ounces pasta shells
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: breadcrumbs for topping
Instructions
- Cook the pasta shells in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and whisk for 1 minute until it becomes a light golden paste.
- Add the milk gradually and whisk until smooth, then simmer until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted.
- Combine the pasta shells with the cheese sauce and season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer to a lightly greased baking dish if baking.
- Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
