Description

Crispy, golden-brown homemade hash browns that deliver a satisfying crunch and fluffy potato goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large starchy potatoes (like Russets)
  • 1 small sweet onion (or shallots)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes and onion into thin shreds.
  2. Rinse the grated mixture in cold water to remove excess starch, then drain well.
  3. Use a clean kitchen towel to squeeze out as much moisture as possible.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Add the grated mixture to the skillet, pressing down gently into an even layer.
  6. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  7. Cook until the bottom is golden (about 5-7 minutes), then flip and cook the other side until golden and cooked through.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or toppings.

Notes

For added flavor, try incorporating shredded cheese or chopped herbs, and ensure not to overcrowd the skillet while cooking for optimal crispiness.
