- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare your baking dish by lightly greasing it.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and lay flat on a towel.
- Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet. Drain excess fat, and add chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, allowing it to simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Combine ricotta cheese, egg, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl until blended.
- Layer one-third of the meat sauce in the baking dish. Place four noodles on top, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce and remaining cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden.
- Let the lasagna rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
You can assemble the lasagna a day in advance; just cover and store in the fridge. To reheat, warm in the oven or microwave.
