Description

A delightful combination of croissant and muffin, these Cheesy Garlic Cruffins are filled with melted cheese and roasted garlic, offering a warm and indulgent experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast, whisking until well blended.
  2. Slowly pour in the warm milk and water, followed by the melted butter. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with melted butter, then sprinkle generously with minced garlic and shredded cheese.
  6. Starting at one end, roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Place each piece into a greased muffin tin, cut side up, gently pressing them into place.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and let the cruffins rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  10. Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh and knead the dough well for flakiness. Customize with add-ins like cooked bacon or spinach!
