Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or mozzarella)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped, optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast, whisking until well blended.
- Slowly pour in the warm milk and water, followed by the melted butter. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with melted butter, then sprinkle generously with minced garlic and shredded cheese.
- Starting at one end, roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
- Place each piece into a greased muffin tin, cut side up, gently pressing them into place.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and let the cruffins rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh and knead the dough well for flakiness. Customize with add-ins like cooked bacon or spinach!
