Description

Indulge in the comforting flavors of carrot cake blended with the softness of cinnamon rolls, topped with creamy frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk together flour and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg into the dry ingredients; stir until a rough dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Fold in grated carrots, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled.
  7. Turn out the risen dough onto a floured surface; roll into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Spread cream cheese across the surface, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Roll tightly from one edge to form a log and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  10. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract for the frosting.
  13. Cool the rolls briefly before drizzling the frosting over them.

Notes

For a make-ahead option, prepare the dough the night before and let it rise in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before rolling out.
