Description

A rich and indulgent bread pudding drizzled with a warm whiskey sauce, perfect for dessert lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of day-old bread, cubed
  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of whiskey
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and milk, allowing it to soak for about 15 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  4. Mix the egg mixture into the soaked bread until well combined.
  5. If using, fold in the raisins.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until set.
  7. While the pudding is baking, prepare the whiskey sauce by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  8. Add the brown sugar and heavy cream to the melted butter, stirring until smooth.
  9. Stir in the whiskey and let the sauce simmer for a few minutes.
  10. Once the bread pudding is done, serve warm with the whiskey sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread.
  • Adjust the amount of whiskey in the sauce according to your taste.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance and reheated before serving.
