Description

Ingredients

  • 5 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • For serving: Vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chopped pecans or walnuts, and caramel drizzle (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease your baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  3. Combine the sliced bananas, 1 cup of granulated sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir gently.
  4. Whisk together the self-rising flour, 1 cup of whole milk, and ½ cup of sugar in a separate bowl.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Spoon the coated bananas over the top without stirring.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the cobbler rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
  9. Top with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

For best flavor, use ripe bananas with brown spots. This dessert can be made in an air fryer; just adjust the cooking time.
